Acrobatic Dance is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of gymnastics elements.
This class will cover Acro technique which includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength. Note: This class does not cover basic dance skills. It is recommended that acro students also take a ballet or jazz class.
A strong ballet background is the basis for technical dancers and is strongly encouraged! Our ballet students work under the Cecchetti ballet syllabus. All ballet program students have the opportunity to perform in our winter Nutcracker Production!
At an older age BALLET EN POINTE is also offered (by invitation) to those students who's training & physical characteristics deem them ready.
*Some classes have a live accompianist!
Baton twirling is an athletic endeavour enhanced through creativity. It is a challenging artistic sport that combines the skillful mastery of twirling, tossing and catching batons with body movements incorporating dance and gymnastics. Baton students have the oportunity to perform in pre-competitive to competive events at various competitions throughout the season. Note: This class will incorporate basic dance skill this season.
Stretch & Strength
In Stretch & Strength class participants will focus on improving flexibility, balance, and strength with exercises rooted in dance technique. Currently only being offered for adults, this class is designed for all levels and is great for anyone looking to improve their overall flexibility and strength. Beginners welcome!
Hip Hop is an urban street style type of dance strongly embedded in Hip Hop culture. It is recommended for the spirited dancer that has ever wanted to move like a pop star. Hip Hop dance incorporates many different styles such as breaking, popping, and locking to name just a few. Combining funk moves with smooth steps, Hip Hop is a dynamic rage dance style!
Jazz is a dynamic dance style limitless in its creative interpretation from Broadway, Traditional, or Street, but to name a few. It is fast-paced and develops coordination and flexibility. Jazz is full of energy! We strongly recommend all Jazz dancers also be training in ballet. Jazz dancers who train in ballet excel at a faster pace and with much stronger technique.
Junior Level & Up
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance technique. This dance style challenges dancers to use body movements to interpret music and express emotions. Lyrical dance is a very passionate and stylized discipline. It portrays certain feelings such as love, happiness, or sorrow, and tells a story through every movement.
Stage / Theatre
In this class, students will focus on the theatrical side of dance. Performing excerpts from such musicals as "Fame", "Grease", "Hairspray", etc.
*Strong dance technique is not required, but knowledge of basic dance steps is a prerequisite. Students need to be either taking a jazz class or have jazz training in their background.
"Shuffle" on in to Tap class! Energizing & exciting, this class teaches the essentials or timing and rhythmic footwork. Tap has a rich history and new styles are continually being adapted, keeping this discipline fresh and vibrant.
